Compared growth of old and new gTLD

New gTLD were introduced in 2013, and started registered domains early 2014. Since then, a total of 6.5 million domains were created with new domain names.

New gTLD domains are growing much quicker tant the old TLD, such as .com or .org, as shown in the chart below. There were just below 4 million domains created in old gTLD, representing 66% of the growth in new gTLD
The growth is quite stable with an average growth of 12’000 domains per day. This growth is quite fueled by the launch of new domain names, such as .science or .website, who are already in the largest TLD after a few months of existence only.
