As seen in the previous blog, Google enables get some appreciation of the activity of a TLD. The number of domains per TLD also enable to get another view, more classical and easy to find, on site such as registrarstats, or ntldstats.

Globally, this shows a relatively low number of active site on the new gTLD. New genuine authentic content takes probably time to be developed and will most certainly come in a second phase.

The compared ranking for the biggest TLDs in terms of domains is quite interesting :

gTLD    Domains     Rank   Google results Rank
.xyz  432’628  1 123 14
.berlin  137’544  2 535 1
.club  92’287  3 205 9
.guru  66’977  4 210 8
.wang  42’766  5 174 11
.photography  42’127  6 456 3
.email  37’024  7 431 4
.link  35’549  8 187 10
.xn--3ds443g  35’073  9 40 15
.today  32’770  10 144 12
.tips  27’452  11 273 7
.company  25’648  12 491 2

.center  20’598  14 127 13
.expert  18’887  15 380 5

The largest TLD in terms of domains is XYZ, it is also nearly the smallest in terms of google results.

The last is .xn--3ds443g, which does not show many sites in a google search, but this may be due to geographical elements as well.
.berlin seems to have a relatively larger number of active sites.

Graphically, this is the result, showing 6 groups :
xyz has a huge number of domains but few sites
– berlin has large number of sites and of domains
guru and club have large number of domains, but fewer active presence
company, photography and email seem to have an average number of domains and of sites
expert, solutions and tips seem to be much lower in terms of actual sites
link, wang, today and center and xn--3ds443g seem to have a slower start.

The google query used is illustrated heinafter :

.expert gives 380 results. Google actually initially found more, but by scrolling they finally suggest non similar sites :
